Pattern: decorated with 5 family coats of arms “Kamon Maruni KenKatabami” (the sword and the Oxalis leaf)
A bit of symbolism: in Japanese Buddhism the saber "Ken" or double-edged straight sword is the symbolic object of awakening. Used in the fire ritual "Goma" to destroy the passions and is carried by the Buddhist deity "Fudo-Myoo" to overcome the ignorance of human beings.
The edible Oxalis "Katabami" plant with anti-inflammatory properties is used in Japan to repel demons.
